Ann Clow

Ann Marie Clow’s artwork has been exhibited in North America, Europe, and Mexico, and has been eagerly sought for museum, corporate, and private collections. Growing up in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia inspired Ann to capture the history and beauty of the area. Clow operates a gallery and has sold work to customers from the USA, Israel, Sweden, Germany, Russia, and Asia, to name a few.

In 2005, Clow was honored by having her artwork exhibited at the Government House in Halifax, Nova Scotia. at the request of Myra A. Freeman (former Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia), where the artist was also awarded a certificate for her contribution to the visual arts community. Clow’s painting “Crystalscape” had been selected to be featured in “New Art International” 2009-2010, a prestigious New York art book that has circulation throughout USA and Canada.

In 2012, Clow had an exhibit for two months at the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives. It featured the artistic talents of her family members dating from the 1920’s to the present, entitled “Family Genes: A Historical Portrayal of the Clow Family Artists.” CBC Information Morning Radio interviewed her and discussed the history of those paintings.

Clow has also exhibited her art work at the Yarmouth Art Regional Centre as well as the Church Street Gallery in Sligo, Ireland, Coal Wynd Gallery, in Halifax Nova Scotia and The Craig Gallery at Alderney Landing in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

She has been commissioned to do murals in private homes, backdrops for theater productions, and murals for corporate clients. French Acadian groups have also commissioned the artist to do historical paintings.

Clow’s art work is owned by people such as author Deepak Chopra, Richard Chamberlain (of the Thorn Birds) and Antoinette Perry Lieutenant Governor of PEI.

Ann is committed to lifelong learning and most recently attended “The Faux Finishing School” in Louisville Kentucky.

Besides painting, Clow is passionate about teaching. She has taught art classes at the Yarmouth Jr. High School and delivers art courses for adults and youth on a regular basis. In 2014, Clow volunteered for the Autism Arts program given by the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch, and also for the March Break Autism Arts Camp. In 2014, Clow participated in the Maud Lewis modified house project to raise funds for the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia Western Branch.

In 2014, Clow was presented with a certificate from The Members of The House Of Assembly, that acknowledges Clow’s contribution to the artistic community and Nova Scotia.

In the summer of 2015, Clow was an art instructor on the cruise ship Nova Star that sailed from Yarmouth to Portland, Maine.

2017, Art and Photography exhibit with over 90 pieces at TH’YARC in Yarmouth

2018, Clow was managing Sealand Art Studio For Contemporary Art in Charlottetown PEI

2019, Chiang Mai, Thailand, Clow participated in an art residency at Com Peung creating a new body of art and photography.
She also volunteered to teach art at Tribal Asian Missionary, a non-profit organization which helps pregnant and young mothers.
While in Thailand, she studied with a well-known architect and sculpture using concrete, mental and mortar to create massive statues for temples (overseen by the monks) In Siem Reap.Cambodia at Future Opportunity Kbalromeas (Donation funded) teaching English and Art students.

Clow feels that in return for the gifts that have been bestowed on her, she donates a percentage of my sales to the local food bank.
